[ENGLISH] Men's shaving company tries to make men less masculine or whatnot - A Parody

Rationale:
For this task, I have written a parody of the news article titled “Men’s shaving company attacks toxic masculinity in new ad” from news website Infowars. The text that I am trying to replicate talks about how a men’s product company, Harry’s, is trying to convey a message on the “toxic masculinity”. It is somehow a pastiche but at the same time, I have littered the text with sarcasm and other literary devices that mocks the original text. The reason why I have chosen to write a parody for this task is that there a lot of interesting aspects in this text that can be replicated sarcastically.

Men's Shaving Company Attacks 'Toxic Masculinity' In New Ad

A Men’s shaving company, Harry’s, has released their campaign for International Men’s Day and it is trying to convey a deep and meaningful message. The masculine product company has uploaded a short video that supposedly tries to oppose to the views of “misguided” masculine stereotypes.

As presented in the short clip, the company has presented us with statements that are considered to be a “misguided” stereotype such as “Be a Man”, “Man up”, and “Take it like a man”. What the company is trying to convey is that men don’t have to be tough and men can be who they want to be but they are failing to make a secure statement. This advertisement has sparked a lot of debate within the online community. What they are doing is bad for the community. Men should definitely be the man of the house. The name says it all. But at the same time, the advertisement is trying to promote International Men’s Day to everyone in the online community, which they have thought to be useless.

As we can see in this advertisement the company is trying to appeal to its young and extremely gullible audience where such actions are truly acceptable. They are trying to make a noise in the Millennial’s community yet it seems that this advertisement ended up being more of a meme than an awareness campaign. This advertisement has tried to create a sense of neutrality and equality amongst all but it seems that this advertisement is trying to take a stab at political correctness while also trying to stir some conversations between different ideological factions of the internet. In this day and age, people should be open to the opinions of others in the surrounding community yet this somewhat light-hearted advertisement. This message as a whole, according to the caption of this video, is “misguided”. The advertisement campaign for International Men’s Day is trying to guide a way for people to realize that people can be who they want to be.

Obviously, in our society men are made to be the tough one whereas men who don’t show such traits are obviously feminine. Nowhere in the right mind should men not be the breadwinner of the family. This is not implying that only men can be the breadwinners of the society, but that’s what the message is trying to convey. It is a counterintuitive movement made by their lacking PR. All in all the company has at least tried to convey an important message to the public. But it backfired badly.
